Essential information
Not clinical or crisis care
Emily offers mindfulness workshops to support existing mindfulness practice, to allow you an opportunity to try out mindfulness and experience the benefits of group practice.
It is not advisable to attend these sessions in the heat of a crisis, when it would be important to access your GP or a mental health clinician.
Please contact Emily if you have any questions about her sessions, but please be aware that she is not offering a clinical or crisis service. And it will not be possible to respond urgently to emails.
What to do if you are struggling with your mental health or experiencing any challenging emotions:
Whatever you're going through, you can call the Samaritans for free, from any phone, on 116 123. Or find out about others ways you can get in touch with Samaritans for support.
If you are worried that you cannot keep yourself safe - or you are concerned about someone else’s safety - call 999 or go to A&E.
Preparation before your session
Please answer these important questions before attending a mindfulness session with Emily.
If the answer is yes to any of these questions, please get in touch with Emily; you do not need to share any personal details about your answers and they will be kept confidential.
This information needs to be considered in planning the group and during the group, and to determine suitability.
If you are new to mindfulness
If you are new to mindfulness (and have not done an 8 week mindfulness course, like Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction or Mindful Self-Compassion) then it is advised you proceed carefully with some of the longer mindfulness practices - such as the 30 minute body scans to begin with.
Emily focuses on short mindfulness practices within her sessions (10 minutes or less); considered the safest option to start.
Accessibility needs
If you have accessibility needs please get in touch with Emily so she can work to facilitate the support that’s right for you. She will share links to venue accessibility ahead of the session.
During online group sessions
During online group sessions, please be prepared to have your camera on. This helps facilitate a safe space for everyone. If you need to leave a session early, or log off for a moment, please make Emily aware so that she knows you are safe.
After the session
Feedback is really valuable in helping tailor workshops to support different participants needs. Emily will provide different options to provide feedback following her session, including anonymously if you would prefer. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any feedback or want to discuss anything else after the session.
